The Blue Dragon is conveniently located on the Big Island on Highway 270 across from the Kawaihae boat harbor.
Unique dining experience at the Blue Dragon features an open air courtyard. Little white lights give the restaurant a warm and friendly feeling with candles on each table. There is a stage with live music and dance floor.
The service was excellent with the right amount of attention during the meal.
Appetizer and Salad
Ahi Won Tons is made with Fresh Island Poke on top of Won Ton Crisps with Sprouts, Tropical Fruit Salsa and Wasabi Sour Cream, this is delicious.
Hamakua Mushroom Polenta is made with sautéed local Hamakua mushrooms, Savory Black Truffle and Parmesan Cheese Folded in a Creamy Polenta with Grilled Asparagus. If you like mushrooms this is a must have appetizer.
From Big Island House Salad is made with Kekela Farm Greens, Carrots, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Candied Macadamia Nuts, Sprouts & Ahualoa Goat Cheese with House Lilikoi or Balsamic Vinaigrette. This can really taste the fresh ingredients that make this a wonderful selection.
Entrée and Desert
We had the fresh catch of the day prepared pan seared with creamy polenta, blue dragon farm fresh vegetables and mango habanero coulis. Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection, this entrée was delicious. Save room for deserts because the sorbets, ice creams, and cakes are all a perfect way to complete this dining experience. Dinner at the Blue Dragon offers a unique dining experience, under the stars, great food, excellent service, and live music.
