Bubba Gump Restaurant is located oceanfront in the heart of Kona, Big Island. There is both indoor and oceanfront outdoor seating. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The oceanfront seating is amazing, watching the waves and outrigger canoe paddlers in Kona Bay. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a variety of menu items, there specialty is shrimp. The shrimp is prepared in many different styles. The wait staff was both attentive and friendly and made our dining experience very enjoyable. This is a national chain restaurant based on the Movie. The restaurant has lots of movie memorabilia and the wait staff is well versed about the movie. They will ask you a few movie questions between courses to keep it interesting. There is a roll of paper towels on the table so don’t worry about ordering a bucket of peel your own shrimp. The portion are good size. If you need service you simply flip ove the license plate located on the table from blue to red to signal you need something. We have eaten in several Bubba Gump Restaurants around the United States, the Bubba Gump Restaurant in Kona is better than expected. There is a Bubba Gump gift shop located in the front that sells everything Bubba Gump. It is a fun and enjoyable dining experience and will go back again for dinner the next time we are on the Big Island, |
